Akufo-Addo’s administration invest half a billion dollars into farm mechanization centers; says Food and Agriculture Minister.

The Food and Agriculture Minister, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, has indicated that the Nana Addo’s administration is going to invest about half a billion dollars into rebuilding the country’s farm mechanization centers. According to the minister, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) over the last eight years of it’s tenure in office dismantled all 167 farm mechanization centers entrusted to them (NDC) by the former President John Agyekum Kufour’s administration.

A total of 317 farmers in Birim North District Assembly in 2018, benefited from Food and Jobs (PFJ) programme, cultivating 200 acres of maize plantation at the kweikaru forest near Amuana Praso. Mr. Ramond Nana Damptey who disclosed this at a session meeting at the assembly said, the farmers were made up of 316 males and 55 females. He said, the district received 75 bags of maize seeds of which 45.8 bags were distributed and 29.2 bags were currently in stock.
